About Dena Hill
Simply put, Spiritual Direction is the process where one helps another recognize the activity of God in his/her life, and respond appropriately. In my spiritual direction practice, I seek to position those in my care for an intimate and transformative encounter with God (rather than direct or counsel them on how to live the spiritual life). In this sense, my direction might be more aptly termed, Spiritual Facilitation.
Some of the methods I utilize to facilitate such a blessed encounter are: Lectio/Visio Divina, Gospel Contemplation, Biblical Meditation, Contemplative Prayer, Poetry, various forms of Artistic Expression, and Healing Care Experientials (to address wounds, lies or blocks to intimacy).
People have sought me for spiritual direction for a variety of reasons: some are new to faith; some have pastoral oversight for many “but no ones cares for their soul”; some are thirsty for greater intimacy with God; some are spiritually stuck; some are broken/wounded and life isn’t working; some have lost their way and want to return ‘Home’; some struggle to communicate with God.
